Chocolate Hummus

Chocolate Hummus

You’ve all heard of hummus but did you know you can actually turn it into a sweet treat and dessert? This chocolate hummus recipe does just that. I’ve taken protein-packed SILO Chickpeas to make a delicious, healthier dessert.

Why you’ll love chocolate hummus:

  • Sweet: This sweet treat is a great dessert alternative. Use it to dip fruit in!
  • Easy: Make this in only 30-minutes
  • Unique: You probably hadn’t thought to make chocolate hummus before this right?

  • Ingredients:

Chickpeas: Chickpeas have a nutty flavor and buttery texture. They are so incredibly versatile and can be added to salads, to make savory hummus, or sweet hummus like this chocolate hummus. They’re also full of protein and fibre.

Peanut Butter: The peanut butter in this recipe adds even more protein, but you can swap it for any nut butter of your choosing.

    How to make chocolate hummus:

    1. Cook the Silo Chickpeas according to the instructions on the package- make sure they become very soft and squishable.
    2. Rinse and strain the chickpeas and place on a couple pieces of paper towel or a clean cloth.
    3. Set another piece of paper towel or a cloth and rub the chickpeas to remove as much of the skins as possible. Less chickpea skins will result in a smoother dip.
    4. Add the chickpeas and ALL of the remaining ingredients to a food processor.
    5. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy. Add more water if it becomes too thick to blend properly and adjust flavour to taste.
    6. Transfer the dip to a bowl and chill in the fridge or enjoy immediately.
    7. Serve this dip with fresh fruit, cookies, and marshmallows OR spread onto your toast for breakfast with slices of banana. It is so delicious!
